Lake Duchessa
Lake Duchessa is situated within the homonymous Nature Reserve at an elevation of 1,788 m. Classified as a shallow lake, it extends for about 4 hectares and a has a perimeter of 973 m. Obviously, these data vary depending on the level of annual rainfall, since the lake is not fed by streams but only by atmospheric factors. The lake has been mainly known since the kidnapping of Aldo Moro by the Red Brigades who mentioned it in the false communication no. 7 of 18 April 1978, according to which Moro’s body would be lying on the bottom of the Lake.
